Terra cotta soldiers still guard an ancient emperor's tomb... a dam will soon flood thousands of years of history and some of the country's most beloved scenery...In China the past is as alive as the present and the two are inextricably mixed. On this exotic holiday, you'll visit Beijing's grand monuments including the Great Wall, Tien An Men Square and the Ming Tombs. Then fly to Xian to see the Terra Cotta Warriors; a growing, life-sized ancient army made of clay. Cruise 4 days on the Yangtze River and see how the largest dam in the world is slowly suffocating entire cities. In small boats cruise the fabled Three Gorges, look for wild monkeys clinging to cliffsides. Photographic opportunities abound as you cruise through narrow inlets with lofty mountains and past farmers working the fields. Our trip ends with a flight to Shanghai, the most westernized area of China. It's a festival of pent-up entrepreneurial spirit with a fascinating juxtaposition of old China and a new, hip modern China.
