The day includes driving up the Spirit Lake Highway to Johnson Ridge. This new center is within 5 miles of the mouth of the crater. You will have spectacular views of the still steaming lava dome, crater, pumice plane and landslide deposit. The interpretive exhibits show how the eruption shaped the mountain, lessons that we learned from the past, the power, speed and direction of the blast and much more. A huge logger lunch is included.
