Join Alki Tours on Mt. St. Helens Blast Zone And Lunch

June 10, 2015

$99 per person

Volcanologist David Johnston is one of the 57 who lost their life at Mt. St. Helens during the May 18, 1980 eruption. The completion of Johnston Ridge marks the end of a 12 year, $100 million dollar capitol investment and it is remarkable. Our day includes driving up the Spirit Lake Highway to Johnson Ridge. This new center is within 5 miles of the mouth of the crater. You will have spectacular views of the still steaming lava dome, crater, pumice plane and landslide deposit. The interpretive exhibits show how the eruption shaped the mountain; lessons that we learned from the past; the power, speed and direction of the blast and much more. A huge lunch is included.
