Whales, ocean and rainforest­reality is even better than fantasy on the far West Coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. Begin with a ferry ride to Horseshoe Bay. Then we'll motor to Coombs, whose main attraction is the Old Country Market, a mish-mash of fresh produce, baked goods and imported gifts, complete with a grass roof housing real-life goats! Immerse yourself in the great outdoors as we head to Tofino, a stunning town and fishing village untouched by modern day consumerism. Without a Starbucks in sight, Tofino takes pride in local shops, fantastic cuisine, art and environmentalism. Ancient coastal temperate rain forests, stunning vistas, miles of pristine sandy beaches and amazing wildlife is all at your doorstep. We'll spend two nights exploring by land and sea. You can be as active and adventurous as you like; alternatively, you can just sit back and drink it all in. Take an optional trip to Hot Springs Cove and walk along deserted sandy beaches, or track black bears in the morning and cruise into the sound in the afternoon in search of harbour porpoises and seals, and in open water grey whales and huge, stinking, stellar sea lions.
